Polígono Hindú Astral (Joni & Julio, 50% of Antiguo Régimen) is one of the best examples in Spain of the renewal of the kosmische sound.
Active since 2012 and authors to date of several cassettes, P.H.A. surprise us now with it first long play 00110010 (Verlag System), taking us on a journey through analog sounds, cosmic echoes, minimalist sequences… an updated, short-format legacy that blends together the cosmic odysseys of Tangerine Dream or Klaus Schulze with the experimental essence of Cluster and Conrad Schnitzler.
In 00110010 P.H.A. aligns themselves with the rawest analog machine sounds adopted from the German tradition by artists coming from the active scene of the East Coast of the US (Jonas Reinhardt, Forma, Steve Moore, Majeure, or Steve Hauschildt, just to name a few) as featured in catalogue references of record labels like SpectrumSpools, VCO Recordings or Kranky.
Geographical coordinates, as well as historical and astronomical references inspire the eleven tracks that make up 00110010, a job that has its roots in the 70’s electronic music avant-garde.” Audionautas
Review of Polígono Hindú Astral’s LP in “Merchants of Air” (Belgium):
“‘B3 CIII.Y.E37’ has a bit of a psychedelic nature, another vintage influence that shines through once in a while. That’s why I advised to get this album on vinyl. It truly belongs on a shelf between Kraftwerk, Cluster, Tangerine Dream, The Normal, Chris & Cosey and Liaisons Dangereuses or any Neue Deutsche Welle or electronic avant-garde act for that matter. This is a brilliant album and a solid candidate for my best-of 2015 list…”
